Educational Philosophy 👋
This is Anasuya Chowdhury, a high school math teacher in HISD. I have been teaching in HISD for 13 years. Currently, I am teaching AP Precalculus, and serving as a Math Department Chair as well. I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree from India. I also have completed Post
Baccalaureate in C&I Math and am in the process of getting a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology. My objective is to integrate technology in instruction to enhance learning and my
goal is to become Curriculum Specialist at the district level.
My other passion is music; I am a mom of a 23-year-old daughter and a wife of an awesome husband.
My philosophy of education is not only academic but it is a combination of emotional, social, physical and academic development of a child. I would like to help children to build necessary skills to function in the rapidly evolving digital world, to help them to be productive members of the society. I also believe that a teacher is a facilitator or a guide of learning, not just a knowledge giver for passing tests. Monitoring and assessing student understanding and growth are essential parts of teaching, and my goal is to prepare students to the next level. I think that each student should be assessed with respect to his/her own developmental yardstick. I would like to get them involved in relevant and targeted research projects and group discussions by integrating technology to build their leadership skills as well as to help them to become lifelong learners. Students learn best from what they consider most relevant to their lives; it is imperative to create curricula on the needs, experiences, interests and abilities of students within the constraints of available resources. We should learn how to live in harmony with nature and digital world. I believe that digitalization saves us the trouble of tedious work and leaves more spaces for creativity. Keeping the facts in mind what machines can do and can’t do, my focus will be on how to use them for betterment of human growth and cognitive abilities. In the pursuit of new technologies, my goal is not to abandon traditional educational philosophies, rather to integrate and adapt modernization for better outcomes. Each student is unique and so his/her way of learning. By effectively using AI inspired tools and platforms, I would like to measure individual growth and learning and promote Data-Driven instruction. Each individual’s thoughts and feelings must be respected and valued in the classroom. Overall, I would like to create a pleasant, safe, modern learning environment for all, where learning takes place with maximum productivity of students as well as teachers through experimentation and best practices.
